Our Story
Shield With Care began with a simple belief: that access to life-saving skin cancer screenings and sun safety education shouldn't depend on your zip code or income. We're a Florida nonprofit, founded by high school students, doing something about it.
How It Started
Shield With Care was founded by Jordan Loeser while she was a high school student in Plantation, Florida. Growing up in South Florida — one of the highest UV exposure regions in the country — Jordan recognized that communities without access to dermatologists were being left behind when it came to skin cancer awareness and prevention.
She incorporated Shield With Care Corp. as a Florida nonprofit in 2022 with a clear mission: provide access to sun protection and promote skin cancer awareness in South Florida's underserved communities. What started as a local volunteer effort quickly grew into a real organization with a real impact.
When Jenna Loeser took over as President, she brought the organization into the digital age — building the Shield With Care app to extend the mission beyond in-person outreach and into everyone's pocket.
What We Do
In the Community
Our partnership with Broward Partnership for the Homeless allows us to bring sun safety education and free sunscreen directly to unhoused individuals in South Florida — a population with high outdoor sun exposure and limited access to dermatological care.
